Sports raffles (in the provinces that support them) are regulated by provincial law under a category that's often called
Charitable Gaming. Under
Charitable Gaming laws, specific groups are granted the right to apply for licenses to raise money for specific causes using various games of chance. Examples include
50/50 raffles,
Chace the Ace,
Bingo, etc. The groups that are permitted to apply for licenses include
registered charities,
non-profits,
youth sports teams and organizations, and
youth education groups.
FundRaffle sports raffles are random games of chance in the same way that a
50/50 raffle is, and are regulated under the same rules, regulations, terms, and conditions.
A potential
FundRaffle client cannot run a
sports raffle until their group or organization has applied for and received a valid raffle license from the regulator of the province within which they wish to run the raffle.
